I'm on here a lot, today.

A question for those of you more familiar with LJ than I --

What does it mean when some friends in a person's list are in bold script? Mine are all "regular" and uniform but I've seen lists where a third of them are bold and the rest "regular".

It means that the person who typed it in used the lj special code open-bracket lj user = "your name here" close-bracket.

If you click on it, you'll go to that person's page.

This is what I mean -- say I click on your name and go to your page. In your list of friends, some will be bold and some not. What significance is the bold script?

If you look at my friends the bold ones are riends that are on both of our lists. And if you look at your own friends list, I think it is users who are both friends and you are friends of.

Out of the three answers I see here, I believe [livejournal.com profile] sirroy has the correct answer. If you are looking at someone's user info page and you see that some of their friends have bolded names, that's because these people are also on your friends list.

In my list of friends, the bolded ones are the ones whose page you have visited recently (I don't know the exact definition of recently). So the ones which are bolded are probably friends that you and I have in common.

If you look at my list, the bolded ones are friends on both your and my friends list. If you look at bookczuk's list, the bolded ones are on both yours and her friends lists :)

clear as mud?

almost everyone on your and my lists overlaps, so if I look at your list or you at mine, they're almost all bold.

If you look at [livejournal.com profile] trav28 on my friends list, for example, probably the only one who overlaps is me :)

Aaaaaaaaaaahhh, I see! Thanks, everyone, for satisfying my curious nature.

That last icon was not a commentary on anyone but, rather, my overwhelming need to share it since I think it's hilarious.

Here's another, just 'cause I can.

I know they're both a little filthy -- okay, okay, the second one is actually quite filthy. I'm sorry. You should know, from a recent meme, that I have a crude sense of humor.

All right, you rascal. Your icons are getting outrageously good. I need to make some new ones (as I'm only at 45 out of 100). Send me more hours in the day, please?

Left, as a present, by a special someone on my birthday (and which I just noticed, today). :oP

Do you make these icons or find them somewhere?

I'd like to have words or sayings on some of mine but have no idea how to do it.

Some of them are found and some are made. The one that says "Perfection" was an image Madame U left for me on my birthday. I saved it to my computer and cropped it to fit LJ specs. Then, I used Adobe Photoshop to enter the text.

I'm on a regular ol' PC and use Microsoft Paint (which comes with windows) to do a lot of editing and adding of stuff, too.

ah... Paint is also the program I can handle best to edit pictures...;-)

Oh, I love that icon!

Hi Spedbug! How are things going?

Friday, September 9th, 2005 02:02 am (UTC)
Just got back from the longest, boringest, most frustratingest meeting one could possibly imagine in their sick, twisted, fevered mind. I'm having a glass of wine and watching some News Radio on DVD with my baby...this is the only antidote. But, thanks for asking.

How're things with you?
Friday, September 9th, 2005 04:42 am (UTC)
Yuck, yuck, yuck. I hate meetings!

Good wine? That's always nice.

I'm doing OK...feeling better physically, which is good. And, as for the rest, well...I've been knitting a lot because I sort of have to think about it! That takes my mind off other things. Cleaned the house. Organized my piles of papers into smaller piles of papers. Stressed about how to fund my adoption -- and then stopped thinking about it because it was depressing me.

Mostly, I'm trying to keep busy and I'm doing OK. A little stressed at imagining what happens if one of the people involved in my situation somehow finds my journal entry...but I locked it to friends only, so I think that's alright.

Wow. You didn't want all that, did you? Yeah. I'm OK.

Sorry about your crummy meeting. How's the job going? Did you start yet/when do you start? What is it that you are doing? Hope it is enjoyable and meeting-lite!

It's my experience that, when matters such as yours occur, the world feels "thirteen o'clock" for a while.

If you're very concerned about that post, I'd say go back and lock it as completely "private" - that way NO ONE can access it.

The job - I started last Tuesday and I'm doing a bit of data entry, a bit of calligraphy and a bit of packaging (imagine a job that is *that* diverse! - LOL!) It is a very low stress job as the woman who owns the company is very down-to-earth and I can work at my own pace.
Speaking of the job - I have to go get ready, now, and go in.

All the best. {{{{buffra}}}}
