SirRoy, if you'd like to be able to read the friendsonly half of my posts or want me to read your posts just friend me. Spedbug can testify that I'm nice to have as a friend.
Yes, it is an american holiday. The german "Father's day" is at the fest of Christ's Ascension to heaven, which just got highjacked by beer-lusty males who want to roll their barrels into the country and have yet another reason to drink together and be rolled home. Surprisingly, like Valentine's Day, the gift industry picked up on this and now some kids actually make presents to their fathers on the day. Not that anyone ever did that for me on that weird day (which for me is still a christian event and for religious reasons alone a national holiday), or that my father would ever expect me to do so.
But I see the sincerity in the american holiday and it seems to be less of a beer-drinking-orgy, so I might relate to it better (I prefer wine over beer in nearly all circumstances). So thank you, Spedbug, and have a fatherly hug :-)

Oh, SirRoy, I apologize!
You're so 'new' and so quiet, I forgot you were here.

As lovely as can be expected for a day spent at the office and then driving to/from the M-in-L's to pick up the girls...
